Junior Science Cafe: What Does It Mean to Kill a Disease?

May 5th, 2009 6:00 PM   -   7:30 PM
Science tells us that disease has been around as long as life, but now humans have the ability to eradicate certain diseases not just from individuals but from the world. Smallpox was "eradicated" decades ago, yet the flu still plagues millions every year worldwide. Can all diseases be truly cured, or will medicine reach the limits of treatment and prevention? In this Junior Science Cafe, the possibility and potential of cures for common (and uncommon) diseases will be discussed.
