Build your own Phone Company!

July 22nd, 2009 1:00 PM   -   5:00 PM
Alexander Graham Bell never had it this easy! Today there are applications that you can download for free from the Web that will let you build your own telephone company. Students at the Illinois Institute of Technology have already built one! Now it is your turn.
On completion you will receive a set of instructions that will allow you to build a soft phone on your own computer and link it to the phone system that you built. You, your friends and your family can all use this phone system to call each other. You can even make video calls as long as you have a camera for your computer.
This project is sponsored by Science Chicago Partner IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers) and IIT. For more information about this project you can email Carol Davids, the Director of the VoIP Lab at davids@iit.edu.
