Dr. Funmi Olopade: Nature, Nurture & Breast Cancer

September 22nd, 2009 6:00 PM   -   7:30 PM
The Chicago Public Library presents a discussion with Dr. Funmi Olopade, University of Chicago oncologist and genetics expert, who is one of the world’s leading authorities on hereditary breast cancer and cancer risk assessment.

As an international leader in breast cancer research, Dr. Olopade continues to help scientists—and the public—gain a greater understanding of the disease. An expert on individualized treatment for breast cancer, she has a special interest in women of African descent, who are at higher risk for more aggressive cancers and at a younger age. Also joining us will be Dr. Mary Ann Malloy, noted area physician, journalist and NBC5 health reporter. Please join us for a fascinating and inspiring conversation on this important topic.

This program is another of the Library’s MacArthur Fellows Science Series programs and is presented in partnership with Science Chicago: Life’s A Lab, with generous support from the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation through the Chicago Public Library Foundation.
