One of the great encyclopedic museums of the world, the Art Institute takes visitors on a tour of human imagination through collections that span 4,000 years of artistic expression – drawing on the cultures of Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Americas. The museum’s own holdings include paintings, prints and drawings, sculptures, photographs, textiles, and architectural models, fragments and drawings, complemented by temporary exhibitions from public and private collections worldwide.
